Ad Hoc Downtown Beautification and Improvement Committee Scope of Work
The ad hoc City Downtown Beautification and Improvement Committee is charged with developing a plan for City Council approval regarding the use of transient occupancy tax funds that have been budgeted for “other City projects that qualify,” with an emphasis on projects in the downtown area. The committee will create a four-year plan for the use of these funds, and other budgeted funds not derived from transient occupancy taxes, by identifying specific projects in the current and next budget cycle, and provide guidance on how these funds should be used in the future. The committee will, if feasible, identify projects that can be undertaken immediately and completed by May 23, 2014.
The Committee shall, in the course of its work:
- Provide ample opportunity for public input;
- Review existing plans and lists of beautification projects;
- Establish criteria by which a proposed project can be evaluated;
- Evaluate how implementation of projects will tie in with one another to create a cohesive overall look for the entire City and not merely downtown;
- Prioritize projects and develop a timeline for implementation that may extend beyond the current budget cycle;
- Present its plan to the City Council.
