The Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission (APRC) is overseen by five (5) elected Commissioners. In 1908, the City of Ashland set aside property for parkland, authorized a permanent tax levy to fund Parks and established the first Commission. (See Article 19, Section 3 of the City Charter.) The mission of the APRC is to provide and promote recreational opportunities and to preserve and maintain public lands.

The Commissioners hold their regular business meetings the 2nd Wednesday each month at 6 p.m., either in Council Chambers or electronically. Study Sessions are typically held the 1st Wednesday of the month (check the APRC public meeting calendar for specific dates). The public may submit written testimony for inclusion in the public record. Alternatively, oral testimony may be taken during the public meeting. For more information, please email Nancy Mero

APRC meetings are broadcast live on RVTV. In Ashland Parks and Recreation Logo compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, if you need special assistance to participate in this meeting, please contact the City Administrator’s office at 541.488.6002 (TTY phone number 1.800.735.2900).  Notification 72 hours prior to the meeting will enable the City to make reasonable arrangements to ensure accessibility to the meeting (28CFR 35.102-35.104 ADA Title I). City of Ashland televised meetings will occur on channel 180 for Charter subscribers. Ashland TV subscribers can continue viewing City meetings on channel 9.

Archived meetings can be viewed on the City's web page Online Videos.

The APRC has the power to adopt by-laws, rules and regulations for the proper conduct of public recreation in the City. The APRC coordinates recreational facilities now within the City, or hereafter to be constructed or created. The Commission shall have the power to conduct any form of recreation or cultural activity that will employ the leisure time of the people of Ashland and vicinity in a constructive and wholesome manner. The APRC meetings are broadcast live on RVTV, channel 9.
