Economic Development Strategy Adopted
The City Council adopted the final Economic Development Strategy at their meeting of July 19, 2011. The Strategy was a result of a 2009-10 Mayor and City Council goal for creating and implementing an Economic Development Strategy that would incorporate the following objectives:
• Diversifying the economic base of the community,
• Supporting creation and growth of businesses that use and provide local and regional products,
• Increasing the number of family-wage jobs in the community, and
• Leveraging the strengths of Ashland’s tourism and repeat visitors.

A three component Citizen Involvement Plan was used as part of the Committee's work towards drafting a recommended draft Strategy for Council review. Components included ten topic based focus groups, two public open houses and an online questionnaire. All three components are detailed in the Citizen Involvement Report.
