Transportation System Plan Update

The City of Ashland, in coordination with the Rogue Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (RVMPO), Rogue Valley Transit District (RVTD) and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), recently updated the City's Transportation System Plan (TSP).

The primary purpose of the TSP update is to identify near and long term projects that serve the Ashland community's active transportation needs currently through 2034. A key objective of the plan is to help Ashland further realize the goal of being a green transportation community, as well as improve quality of life and support economic prosperity in Ashland.

Beginning in June 2010, the Transportation and Planning Commissions held a series of joint meetings to review and refine the draft. The project also included four public meetings spaced throughout the process.  The final edits were made and the formal application was submitted to Planning on October 26, 2012. A public hearing was held at the Planning Commission meeting on December 11, 2012 where the Commission recommended Council's approval. The next steps included Planning Commission's review of Findings (January 2013) and concluded with the City Council adoption on March 19, 2013 (First Reading took place February 5; Second Reading was March 5, 2013).
