Emergency Medical Services

Ashland Fire & Rescue operated an ambulance service in the Ashland area from 1926 until 1936, when it was sold to Litwillers Funeral Home.

From 1973 until January of 1996 the department provided first response advanced life support and back-up ambulance services for Ashland Life Support Ltd. In January of 1996 Ashland Life Support was purchased by the City of Ashland.

Since 1996 Ashland Fire & Rescue has exceeded the standards required to provide high quality (24) twenty-four hour Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance services.

The department has exceeded all Jackson County response time requirements by a wide margin and has an above average or higher score over 99% of the time from customer satisfaction surveys.

Ashland Fire & Rescue equips (2) two first out, state of the art ambulances usually staffed with (2) two state certified Paramedics for initial calls. The department staffs a third out reserve ALS ambulance with on duty personnel and pages back off duty personnel to staff (2) two other reserve ambulances for subsequent calls.
