NEW BUSINESS
PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION ON LITHIA FARMER’S MARKET IN LITHIA PARK
Janet Bierbower, 4290 Foothill Blvd., former Market Manager for the Rogue Valley Grower’s and Crafter’s Market, spoke on behalf of approximately 25 to 30 growers and crafters who wish to hold a separate "Farmer’s Market" in the skating rink parking lot of Lithia Park on Tuesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., potentially starting on July 8, 2003.
Public Comment
Ryan Navickas, 711 Faith Street, spoke in favor of the proposed new Farmer’s Market.
Discussion Among Commissioners
Commissioner Eggers and Vice-Chair Gardiner expressed concerns about using Lithia Park for the market. Chair Lewis and Commissioner Amarotico stated that the market is more a Planning Department matter, since the skating rink parking lot is relatively removed from Lithia Park.
MOTION – Commissioner Rosenthal moved to approve the Lithia Farmer’s Market’s use of the parking lot on Winburn Way at Nutley Street on Tuesdays from 7:30-1:30, pending Planning Department approval, for a one-year period. Commissioner Amarotico seconded the motion.
The vote was:
Commissioners Amarotico, Lewis, and Rosenthal – yes
Commissioners Eggers and Gardiner – no
ADJOURNMENT – By consensus, with no further business, Chair Lewis adjourned the meeting at 7:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted, Susan Dyssegard, Administrative Secretary, Ashland Parks and Recreation Department
