New Online Permit System for the City

On February 20, 2024, the City of Ashland will launch a new permit system.

The City of Ashland Community Development Department will debut a new customer service portal, Citizen Self Service, which will streamline permitting and plan-review procedures. The new system will bring increased transparency through each step of the process, and provide the community with quick, intuitive self-service access for achieving their construction and permitting needs.

Automating manual processes and utilizing a collaborative workflow reduces the time from application submittal to permit issuance and enables residents and businesses to apply for permits and manage inspections online, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Utilizing the new customer portal, popular Building, Planning and Public Works permits can be applied for and processed online, including:

  • Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing and Structural Permits
  • Renewable Energy Systems
  • Residential Remodels, Additions and Decks
  • Grading and Excavation Permits
  • Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler and Fire Suppression Systems
  • Signs, Fences, New Addresses and Zoning Permits
  • Right-of-Way Closures, Street/Alley Excavations and miscellaneous Concrete Permits

In addition to applying for permits and requesting inspections, users can conduct research and obtain permitting information on all applications processed by the City of Ashland over the last five-plus years.

"We are excited to introduce our new online citizen self-service portal,” said Brandon Goldman, Community Development Director. “This user-friendly platform empowers our residents and businesses to manage their permits more conveniently and efficiently. The Community Development Department is committed to enhancing customer experiences, and this portal is a significant step towards achieving that goal."
