2023 Early Childhood Affordability Grant Pilot Program

In August 2023, the Ashland City Council adopted the Early Childhood Affordability Grant Pilot Program and authorized City staff to begin implementation. This plan addresses childcare and early learning affordability, and access for Ashland families.

The Early Learning Childhood Program is a pilot grant program for childcare providers in Ashland to allow them to offer affordability scholarships to qualified low and moderate-income households seeking early childcare options. This pilot program allows for continual evaluation and updating throughout the initial 2023-2024 school/childcare year.

Preschool Kids

The grants are issued in the fall to licensed preschools or daycare providers in Ashland who will in turn provide scholarships to families who are eligible for assistance.

Applications opened September 7, 2023, and closed September 27, 2023.

The City received several applications and after review, two were identified as meeting the criteria.

Children's World Montessori for $20k

Grant recipients will reach out to families who qualify for scholarships.

Every quarter, the grant recipients will submit a report so that the pilot program can be evaluated.
